mate-desktop is an alternative desktop environment to traditional GNOME . It uses gtk+ components and has less memory power usage than GNOME uses. Most of the tools are named in spanish for e.g. caja which is supposed to be mean 'box' in Spanish and so on and so forth.

How do I get Ctrl + Alt + t to launch ther terminal in Linux Mint 13 MATE?

Pressing Ctrl + Alt + t seems to do nothing on my Linux Mint 13 MATE. How can I set this shortcut to launch a terminal window? As a detail, it seems the terminal is mate-terminal rather than gnome-terminal.

Is there any way to let it snow on my linux mint destkop?

I want snow fall on my desktop really badly. Tried Xsnow (with Mate/Marco, Mate/Compiz and KDE/Kwin) but doesn't work. Snow plugin for Compiz doesn't work anymore either. Snow feature of KDE was removed. Is there any other way to get the snow?
