I recently installed Linux Mint 21.1. The hp printer (mfp 226dn) is behaving strangely. If I print something from the computer, I get white dots in the text and images. But if I print a test page directly from the printer, there are no such white dots. I am suspecting a driver issue. I have followed all the basic steps for setting up a hp printer and I don't know what else to do.
I have been using my desktop and printer for almost six years. I have used previous editions of linux mint as well as debian 10 and debain 11. I have never had a problem with the printer in all these years.
