Cinnamon is desktop environment which is a fork of GNOME Shell. It is derived from GNOME 3 but has a look and feel closer to GNOME 2.

The Cinnamon desktop environment is a fork of GNOME Shell . It uses code from GNOME 3, but emulates the look and feel of GNOME 2 , in particular keeping the desktop metaphor. Cinnamon was initiated by Linux Mint developers.

Cinnamon includes:

  • Muffin, a window manager based on Mutter
